On the last day of Term 2, we had a Wacky Hair and Hat Day. We could do wacky things to our hair or use our creativity to create the wackiest hat. This made our last school assembly so much fun. Here are pictures of some of us with our wacky hat and hair.

Technology
Written by Katrina and Alka
Last Thursday and Friday we had technology. We were so excited. We made an ancient Chinese tool called abacus. Some people still use this now.
The first step was cutting the wood to make the outside of the abacus. The second step was gluing all the pieces together. (There were four pieces for each abacus.) Then the next step was drilling the wood to make holes and after we put on long sticks then we put the beads in for the counting. Most of us put the beads on our abacus on Friday. The girls used the pretty beads. Mr Rankin had named one sort of beads 'cheapies' but the girls used them anyway. There were many heart shapes, stars, and many different colours like pink, purple, green, blue and orange. After we put the beads in we pushed the sticks up from the bottom, then we got some hot glue gun and glued it altogether. Did you know that Miss Ahn used to know how to use the abacus? But she forgot.
We had the most fun technology days. We are keeping them in our desks so we can use them for maths.
P.S. Please check out our slideshow of the technology day on our wikispace.

Room 31 Answers Fizzing Four
We have created a video to answer some questions asked by the Fizzing Four, who also have a beautiful blog like us. We are excited to have them as our blog buddy. In the video, we've also included some photos to show them a little bit of our school. Enjoy!

Chinese Dumplings
Written by Mikayla and Sam
Last Thursday we made Chinese dumplings. To say 'dumplinigs' in Chinese is wa-teep (pronouced war teep)
We had helpers come in and help us to make the dumplings. The helpers were Sam's mum and Por Por (grandma in Cantonese) and Rohan's grandma. The whole class was very very excited. We made the dumplings because we are studying Ancient China.
We learned how to use chopsticks to eat the dumplings. You put your middle finger in between the chopsticks. Then make your chopsticks even. Put your index finger on top of the highest chopstick.
The class loved the dumplings we loved them too.
The ingredients:
160g of pork/chicken mince
2 tablespoons of chopped water chestnuts
half a teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of sugar
1 teaspoon of soya sauce
1 teaspoon of sesame oil
1 tablespoon of water and 20-25 Chiao Tzu round wrappers.
Mix all of the ingredients well for several minutes. Put a teaspoonful of mixture into the middle of the wrapper, fold in half , press the edges together and pleat. Gently press down on both sides of the pleat to flatten the bottom. Brown the bottoms in a frying pan, add some water, cover, turn down the heat and allow to steam for 5-6 minutes till cooked.

Trip to Lake Pupuke
Since we're looking into the past this term, we thought we'd go back to Term 1 and show off our slightly overdue pictures from our trip to Lake Pupuke. If it looks like we're having too much fun, it's probably because we are. Enjoy!
P.S. Just for those who don't know, this was a part of our EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom) programme.
